How to have a successful multicultural business?
According to Working Mother Magazine most managers and business owners like to believe that they’re open-minded. But naturally, there are companies which are more welcoming and friendly than others. Things get even more difficult when it’s your own responsibility to manage a multi-cultural business and make sure everything goes smoothly. We’ve prepared a list of things you can do to make sure your company is a multi-cultural success, whether it’s a small local business or a large organisation:
If you don’t know what makes your employee comfortable, you won’t be able to do just that. It’s a great idea to find out more about their customs, language, traditions, cultural differences, and to find out the days they might need off etc. It not only makes them feel more comfortable but also ensures them that you do show initiative to make them feel welcome and wanted, in turn creating a great working environment for you and your employees.
Having a diverse team of employees is a great way to learn and celebrate from each other. Organise social events where people can get to know each other better and absorb different cultures, sharing values and experiences!
Make sure that you set things straight by preparing plain policies which clearly state that it is simply not acceptable for anyone to be bullied or to be made uncomfortable because of their cultural background. Support your team through education and other short courses, all of which can benefit your business.
